Alex is the parent to Avery, a gregarious 5-year old boy who has cerebral palsy and a rambunctious 2-year old named Skyler. Currently Alex is focused on leveraging her experience in the integrative healthcare space, research, and higher education to support a variety of initiatives within the cerebral palsy community.
Professionally, Alex is the Department Chair for the Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AOM) program at the Maryland University of Integrative Health. In her capacity as Department Chair she serves as both an administrative and academic leader for the current graduate degree(s) and future related degrees and certificates in the AOM field. Alex also worked for nearly a decade at Samueli Institute and was involved in numerous research projects examining the effects of acupuncture for pain, stress, and PTSD in military and veteran populations.
Alex received her undergraduate degree in psychology from Goucher College and Masters of Science in physiology from Georgetown University.
